This Sterling Silver pendant has four Scottish Thistles, Scotlands national flower, arrayed around the central point of a simple Celtic knot on an oxidised black background.
The Scottish thistle was adopted as the emblem of Scotland during the 12th Century when Norsemen invaded under the cover of night, taking off their shoes in order to creep up stealthily. Unfortunately for them, this humble but spiky weed grows abundantly in Scotland and the clansmen were alerted to the presence of the Norsemen. The Clansmen of course, won the ensuing battle.
